Venue: Bitcoin St. Petersburg Bowl
When: Monday, Dec. 26, 2016 - 11:00am ET / ESPN
Where: St. Petersburg, Florida - Tropicana Field
Who: Miami RedHawks vs. Mississippi State Bulldogs
It's definitely going to be an exciting year for the St. Petersburg Bowl. This bowl game has never hosted a Power Five conference team, but that's all going to change this season thanks to the fact that the AAC came up short with its bowl eligible teams to fill slots.
The Mississippi State Bulldogs are going to be in St. Pete in spite of their 5-7 season thanks to the fact that they've got the second highest APR amongst 5-7 teams in the nation. They'll be playing against a team with an even more improbable story to get into a bowl game, the Miami ( OH ) Redhawks, a club that started off the season at 0-6 and rallied to finish 6-6.
Originally known as the St. Petersburg Bowl, and formerly sponsored by Beef O'Brady's Bowl and MagicJack, the game now boasts BitPay as its new sponsor until 2016.
The Bitcoin St. Petersburg Bowl betting match up will be played indoors at Tropicana Park, home of the MLB Tampa Bay Rays.
The game, which will once again air on ESPN and will take place on Monday, Dec. 26th, at 11:00am ET, in its first-year of its new conference affiliation with the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) against a top team from the American Athletic Conference.

Preview: In the end, there were only 75 bowl eligible teams for the 80 slots that were needed to be filled, and even after taking the 6-7 teams and the teams that had two wins against FCS opponents to get to 6-6, there were still two more 5-7 teams that were needed to join the bowl fray. Thanks to a great APR over the course of the last two years, the Mississippi State Bulldogs were given the chance to stretch the SEC's participation to 12 teams in the postseason. The Dogs have an awkward matchup for sure against the Miami Redhawks, a 6-6 team out of the MAC running hot at the right time in the St. Petersburg Bowl. Continue...
