Date: Saturday 14th July 2012
Venue: Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas
Former Unified Super Lightweight World Champion Amir Khan (26-2, 18 KO) will face off with current WBC Super Lightweight World Champion Danny Garcia (23-0, 14 KO) for his WBC 140 title on Saturday, July 14th at the Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas, and a co-feature bout will pit Seth Mitchell against Johnathon Banks in a heavyweight fight that should have plenty of betting action.
Khan, the 25-year-old from Bolton was originally scheduled to face Lamont Peterson earlier this month in a rematch for the WBA and IBF light-welterweight titles.
However, that fight was cancelled after Peterson failed a drug test. Now Khan is attempting to reclaim his WBA (Super) & IBF Light Welterweight Champion titles through an annullment of the controversial December match that led to Peterson's split-decision victory over Khan.
For Garcia, this is going to be his biggest fight. Garcia poses a major challenge for Khan, with the 24-year-old boasting an unbeaten record in 23 fights including 14 knockouts and is coming off a win over Mexican legend "Erik Morales" in March of 2012. Garcia, who holds the WBC junior welterweight title, said he would only fight Khan if it were a unification bout.
