The West Coast Swing continues in San Diego for the 2017 Farmers Insurance Open, which gets underway January 26-29, 2017. The tournament has had a number of sponsors since its inception in 1952. Formerly the Buick Invitational from 1989-2009, Farmers Insurance came in to save the day in 2010 and has been the sponsor ever since.
Two courses at Torrey Pines Golf Club will be used over the first two rounds of competition, the North Course and the difficult South Course. The players need to make their hay on the easier North Course, which was redesigned ahead of 2017, setting up the final two days on the brutal South Course that measures 7,569 yards from the tips, almost 800 yards longer than the North Course.
Last year, Brandt Snedeker shot an amazing 69 in blustery conditions to come from six shots back to seal his eighth PGA Tour victory. Snedeker was the only player to break par on the final round that saw the average score soar to 78, including a dreadful 87 by the 54-hole leader, Scott Brown.
Snedeker headlines a world class field for 2017 that may include 7-time champion Tiger Woods, 3-time champion Phil Mickelson, World No. 1 Jason Day, Dustin Johnson and a few more elite players. It’s a great venue that produces a great field year after year.
Past winners in San Diego include all the greats of the game such as Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson, Gary Player, Billy Casper, Johnny Miller, Davis Love III and John Daly.
What is now known as the Waste Management Phoenix Open at the TPC Scottsdale in Scottsdale, Arizona will be the next golf event on the PGA Tour calendar after the Farmers Insurance Open.
Farmers Insurance Open - Torrey Pines Golf Prediction

Other notables include Paul Casey, Brooks Koepka, Jimmy Walker, Daniel Berger, Charles Howell III, J.B. Holmes and Louis Oosthuizen. It’s the best field so far this year. Continue...

Torrey Pines Golf Course
All PGA Tour players will play one round each on Torrey Pines’ North and South golf courses on Thursday and Friday. The low 70 scores from the field of 156 players will play their final rounds on Saturday and Sunday on the South Course for a reason.
The North Course at Torrey Pines has been the simpler golf course to score compared to the South Course. Tiger Woods is the leading lifetime money winner in this PGA Golf Tournament with over $5.7 Million, and Phil Mickelson is second earning over $3 Million playing here.
Farmers Insurance Open History
PGA Tour events in San Diego will mark their 61st year of holding a PGA event here starting in 1962 with the San Diego Open. This tournament was known as The Buick Invitational from 1989 until 2009 when it became the Farmers Insurance Open.
Torrey Pines Golf Course will host tournament number 46 at the North and South courses with Farmers Insurance being the main sponsor of the tournament for the fourth year generating more than $2 Million for charity just in 2012. Tiger Woods golf odds should make him the favorite sports betting pick to win at BookMaker Sportsbook in 2013.

The Olympic champion had led at the halfway stage of the tournament and carded a two-under 70 to finish on nine under and tie with Americans Keegan Bradley and Pat Perez.
Rahm turned professional just seven months ago and the victory guarantees him entry to this year's biggest tournaments.
