Super middleweight title holder Andre Ward's surgically repaired right knee that had been giving him problems, forcing him to postpone his first defense against Allan Green, the fight was originally scheduled for April 17.
Allan “Sweetness” Green, 29-1 20 KO’s, first bout of the Super Six World Boxing Classic will be against the current 168-pound, W.B.A champion Andre Ward, 20-0, 13 KO’s on Saturday June 19 2010, in stage 2 of the Super Six Super Middleweight Tournament.
Ward (20-0, 13 KOs) will be making his first defense of the WBA belt that he won after defeating Mikkel Kessler by 11th round technical decision in November, for the Super Six World Boxing Classic opener. Ward has emerged as a favorite following his performance and is currently listed as a 1:1 favorite.
Green (29-1, 20 KOs) will be making his Super Six debut. Green, is replacing Jermain Taylor who was knocked out in his first fight against the German/Armenian fighter Arthur Abraham. He has won his last six fights, four by stoppage, since losing to Edison Miranda in 2007. Green enters the tournament with zero points heading into Group Stage 2. The championship bout marks the first time since Tommy Morrison in 1993 that an Oklahoman has been involved in a world championship fight. This will be a good, fast paced matchup and a exciting battle.

Andre Ward 's game plan was to stay close to Allan Green to negate the dangerous left hook. When Green obliged by spending most of the night against the ropes, Ward was eager to take advantage.
Ward thoroughly dominated the tough-talking Green to clinch a spot in the semifinals of the Super Six tournament, winning by unanimous decision Saturday night in the first defense of the WBA super middleweight title.

Ward advanced to the final four of the modified round-robin tournament with one round to go. He won all 12 rounds from the three judges in front of his hometown crowd in Oakland. Ward won the title last November when he beat Mikkel Kessler in the first round of the tournament.
