UFC 84 “ Ill Will″
Event name: UFC 84: Ill Will
Date: May 24, 2008
Location: Las Vegas, Nevada
Venue: MGM Grand Garden Arena
Broadcast: PPV (10pm ET)
UFC 84 takes place May 24 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. UFC lightweight champion B.J. Penn meets former champ Sean Sherk in the night's main event.
Sherk was forced to vacate the belt due to a drugs row back in December, allowing Penn to take the title and then instantly vow to beat Sherk down for endangering the sport's good name.
Penn is recognized as one of the greatest technicians in MMA and he is one of only two men to win UFC titles at different weight divisions.
Sherk is an absolute force though, a man with 36 wins and only two losses to his name and he wants his title back.
Also on the card is Wanderlei Silva’s final fight as a light-heavyweight before dropping to middleweight, and he takes on Chuck Liddell’s conqueror Keith Jardine.
Wanderlei Silva (31-8-1 MMA, 1-3 UFC) to fight Keith Jardine (13-3-1 MMA, 5-2 UFC) at UFC 84.
Jardine, who entered the UFC by way of "The Ultimate Fighter 2," posted a 4-2 record before a September 2007 split-decision victory over Chuck Liddell at UFC 76. The victory all but erased a previous first-round knockout loss to Houston Alexander at UFC 71 and thrust the 32-year-old back into title contention.
Silva, meanwhile, hasn't fought since a December 2007 unanimous-decision loss to Liddell. It was his third-consecutive loss, though the previous defeats came to stand-outs Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic and Dan Henderson in PRIDE.
“The Huntingdon Beach Bad Boy” Tito Ortiz, will take on the undefeated Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida.
Another former light-heavyweight champion will also be on display when Tito Ortiz takes to The Octagon against undefeated Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida, a Brazilian fighting out of the same camp as Anderson Silva and the styles are comparable.

UFC 84 “ Ill Will″Results
In the main event of UFC 84: Ill Will on Saturday night in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, B.J. Penn retained his UFC Lightweight Title by defeating former champion Shawn Sherk.
The fight was stopped by the referee after three complete rounds, ending with Penn (14-4-1) knocking Sherk (36-3-1) down and nearly out with a flying knee, followed by a barrage of punches on the mat. It appeared Sherk was saved by the bell, but the ref called the fight off anyway. Sherk didn't dispute the decision.
This highly anticipated fight didn't quite live up to the billing. The former champ Sherk, who had been stripped of his title late last year after failing a steroid test, endured taunts from the fans who twice started chants of "steroids, steroids." Shrek was unable to take Penn to the mat despite an attempt in the early seconds. For the rest of the three five-minute rounds, Penn capitalized on his reach advantage by landing a much higher percentage of punches than Sherk. Sherk's face showed it too, with cuts under both eyes and swelling on his face. Penn finished the fight without a scratch.
