The UFC has officially announced that newly signed heavyweight, Brock Lesnar will be fighting former UFC Heavyweight Champion, Frank Mir in his UFC debut. The two will square off in the octagon at UFC 81 which is scheduled to take place on February 2nd, 2008 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada during the Superbowl weekend.
Recent high profile free agent acquisition Brock Lesnar (1-0) will make his Octagon debut against former heavyweight champion Frank Mir (10-3) at UFC 81 "Breaking Point".
Brock Lesnar is a decorated NCAA wrestling champion and former professional wrestler — has indicated that he wants to fight top competition. It seems that he has got just that, Now he will get his chance with former heavyweight champion Frank Mir an experienced Brazilian jiu-jitsu fighter with years of professional fight experience to his credit.
The 28-year-old's return to the UFC thus far has been a mixed bag. His 2-2 record includes a lopsided first-round TKO loss to Brandon Vera, but back in August, Mir bounced back for a quick and impressive submission victory (via kimura) over Antoni Hardonk at UFC 74.
If both fighters prepare well for this bout it should be an exciting showdown at the Mandalay Bay Events Center on SuperBowl Saturday.
