UFC 76: KNOCKOUT

UFC 76 KnockoutHonda Center - formerly known as Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim, Anaheim, CA
Sat, Sep 22, 2007

The fiercest fighters in Ultimate Fighting Championship are ready to rumble inside the Octagon! Don't miss the hard hitting MMA action of UFC 76 "Knockout" Saturday, Sep. 22, at the Honda Center in Anaheim. Be there to feel the excitement live as "The Iceman" Chuck Liddell takes on Keith Jardine.

Sign Up Click HereChuck “The Iceman” Liddell is wasting no time returning to the Octagon to fight his way back to a title shot, and he has made his mission clear, he wants his title belt back. But standing in his way, with the power to stop the former UFC 205-pound champion, is “The Dean of Mean” Keith Jardine, who awaits him for a light heavyweight main event showdown at UFC 76.

In a special feature, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, fighting out of Brazil, will take on Forrest Griffin in his Octagon debut at UFC 76. The PRIDE 2005 Middleweight (205 pound) Grand Prix Champion is known for his aggressive style, and despite his willingness to stand and trade with anyone, he also holds a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He holds victories over current UFC Champion Quinton Jackson, who he defeated by first round KO, as well as Rogerio “Minotoro” Nogueira, Ricardo Arona, and Kazuhiro Nakamura.

Currently riding a four-fight win streak in PRIDE, Shogun enters the UFC with an eagerness to introduce himself as a new contender in the organization’s ultra-competitive 205-pound division.

Forrest Griffin, sports a mixed martial arts record of 14-4. Griffin appeared on the debut season of The Ultimate Fighter and eventually came out the victor of the light heavyweight division. Griffin made a splash early scoring impressive victories over Stephan Bonnar, Bill Mahood, and Elvis Sinosic. At UFC 59 Griffin faced Tito Ortiz in what turned out to be one of the better fights of the year. In the end Ortiz scored the decision victory. Since that time Griffin has gone 2-1 with victories over Stephan Bonnar and Hector Ramirez. His sole loss came to the hands of Keith Jardine.

Plus, mark your calendars for UFC 77: Hostile Territory –
featuring Rich Franklin vs. Anderson Silva – Oct. 20th at U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati!

UFC 77:

Anderson Silva is a -205 favorite against Franklin (+170), which seems about right. I don't
see anything going differently although I do like Franklin and hope he wins so they need to
have a rubber match. That's what I'd like. but I don't think it'll happen. Confidence in
Silva is so high right now that this is an appetizing bet and one which I may have to take.

Evans and Ortiz are relatively even money again. Pick 'em. I'll be picking Ortiz because I
think he'll be better prepared this time and he wont hold the fence.
