The Hillbilly Heartthrob’ is back. After a layoff of a year, Brad Imes makes his return to the Octagon on April 7th when he faces perennial heavyweight contender Heath Herring at UFC 69 in Houston, Texas.

UFC 69 Fight Results
With a mad flurry of punches following a scrambling and slipping Georges St. Pierre, Matt “The Terror” Serra won himself the UFC Welterweight Belt.
In less than spectacular fashion Georges “Rush” St. Pierre was caught with a straight right from a lunging Serra after slipping on one of the logos on the mat. Serra was aggressively pursuing St. Pierre at the time but not landing much until the slip, when he was caught with the punch and went down.
Serra finished him with a flurry of punches while in the mount.
Pre-PPV Dark Matches:
- Luke Cummo beat Josh Haynes via knockout in 2 mins 45 seconds of round two.
- Marcus Davis beat Pete Spratt via submission in 2 mins 57 of round two.
- Thales Leites beat Pete Sell by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
- Heath Herring beat Brad Imes by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).
UFC 69 PPV Results:
- Kendall Grove beat Alan Belcher via submission at the end of the second round.
- Yushin Okami beat Mike Swick by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28 and 30-27). With Swick being the hometown hero, the crowd weren’t happy with the results here.
- Dana White introduced that former PRIDE Heavyweight Champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira had signed with UFC. The plan is for him to work with a different forename in UFC. The crowd didn’t really seem to know who the guy was.
- Roger Huerta beat Leonard Garcia by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27). Match of the night so far with both guys beating the snot out of each other.
- Josh Koscheck beat Diego Sanchez by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) to end Sanchez’s unbeaten streak. The crowd pretty much crapped on the match throughout, which was slow and a disappointment. Koscheck grabbed the mic after the match and went into full blown heel mode, ragging on the fans for booing him. The promo was better than the match.
- Matt Serra beat Georges St. Pierre by knockout in 3 mins 25 seconds of round one to become the new UFC Welterweight title holder. Big, big upset. I hope some of you got on the Betfair deals we mentioned earlier in the week.
UFC return to PPV on Saturday, April 21 for UFC 70 at the MEN Arena in Manchester, England.
