UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre was forced off the 143 card with a major knee injury, which caused a major shuffle in the next MMA fight. Now, Nick Diaz and Carlos Condit will meet for the interim welterweight belt, with the two top contenders in the 170lb division set to face off in a five round title bout on February 4th 2012, at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
In addition, UFC 143 odds also include, a Heavyweight showdown between TUF 10 winner Roy "Big Country" Nelson and returning UFC veteran Fabricio Werdum, as well as a Welterweight clash pitting Josh Koscheck against Mike Pierce.
Carlos Condit vs. Nick Diaz Betting Odds
Welterweight stars Diaz and Condit will clash over an interim belt while legitimate title-holder Georges St. Pierre heals up from major knee surgery. Nick Diaz, who has now missed out on a second title shot against the injured (knee) Georges St-Pierre, will finally get his chance at the title against Carlos Condit, who also missed out on the chance to fight St-Pierre for the title last year.
Diaz, is coming off a convincing decision over B.J. Penn, while Condit's has won four straight including a TKO of Dong Hyun Kim. While both men have won an impressed 27 MMA fights, it's Diaz who comes to the octagon with the form. The Californian jiu-jitsu expert is currently on an 11 fight winning-streak, with his last loss coming against KJ Noons thanks to a doctor stoppage way back in 2007.
Carlos Condit was the defending WEC Welterweight champion before he joined the ranks of MMA athletes. Condit, has knocked out his last three opponents and believes he is the best fighter in the division. Condit also has submission skills in his arsenal, winning 13 of his 27 victories that way.
