Former UFC heavyweight champion Randy Couture will take on Brandon “The Truth” Vera in the main event of UFC 105 on Nov. 14th from the Manchester Evening News Arena in Manchester, England.
Randy Couture is one of the smallest heavyweights in the UFC and now thinks it's time to move back down to 205 pounds. He would like to fight opponents closer to his own size. The 46-year-old Couture can't realistically expect to beat the best MMA fighters in the world anymore, at either heavyweight or light heavyweight. After tough losses to Brock Lesnar and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Couture hasn't won a fight in more than two years. He may view Vera as his best chance of changing that.
The fight is a huge test for Vera who looked great against Soszynski. Some may wonder if The Truth “deserves” a fight against the legend Couture. However, with Couture dropping his last two bouts and with his record falling to 16-10, the answer should be evident.
Also, a middleweight fight between Michael Bisping (18-2) vs. Denis Kang (32-11-1). Bisping originally was expected to face Wanderlei Silva at UFC 105, though a recent surgery has left the "Axe Murderer" on the shelf for the immediate future.
Michael Bisping will return to the Octagon for the first time since his devastating knockout loss to fellow Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 9 coach Dan Henderson as he looks to take out his frustrations on Denis Kang (32-11-1). The Ultimate Fighter 3 winner is 7-2 in the UFC, including recent wins at 185-pounds over Charles McCarthy, Jason Day, and Chris Leben prior to the loss to Henderson.
The former PRIDE fighter Denis Kang (32-11-1) was upset by Alan Belcher in his UFC debut in January, but bounced back with a unanimous decision victory over Xavier Foupa-Pokam in April in his most-recent fight.
Other fights tentatively scheduled for UFC 105 include Dan Hardy vs. Dong Hyun Kim, Aaron Riley vs. Ross Pearson, Paul Taylor vs. John Hathaway, and Terry Etim vs. Shannon Gugerty.
