Date: Friday, Dec. 30th, 2011
Time: 9pm ET/6pm PT
Location: MGM Grand Garden Arena - Las Vegas, Nev.
Live on Pay-Per-View at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT
UFC 141 will feature a blockbuster heavyweight fight between former UFC heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar (5-2 MMA, 4-2 UFC) Vs. former Strikeforce ( and Dream and K-1 ) heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem (35-11 MMA, 0-0 UFC) in a five-round fight on Friday, Dec. 30 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The winner will be crowned the number one contender and face Junior dos Santos for the UFC heavyweight title shot in the New Year.
Brock Lesnar (fighting out of Alexandria, Minn.) returns to the Octagon for the first time in over a year, since an October 2010 title loss to Velasquez and a career-threatening bout with diverticulitis. Healthy, motivated and inspired to regain the heavyweight title that he held for nearly two years, the 34-year-old former NCAA Division I national wrestling champion wants nothing more than a dominant victory at UFC 141.
Alistair Overeem (fighting out of Amsterdam, The Netherlands) has held world titles all over the globe, but he believes his resume is incomplete without the most coveted championship in combat sports - UFC heavyweight gold. Overeem carries a 10-fight win streak going back more than four years. In addition to his title run in Strikeforce, he picked up an interim DREAM heavyweight belt in December 2010 and a K-1 world-grand-prix kickboxing title three weeks prior. With wins over the likes of Fabricio Werdum, Vitor Belfort, Brett Rogers, Mark Hunt and Sergei Kharitonov in his 12-year career, "The Reem" seeks the biggest victory of his career in the final UFC event of 2011.
Opening UFC Lines at Bookmaker Sportsbook
Favorite - Underdog
Brock Lesnar ( +140 ) Vs. Alistair Overeem ( -170 )
At Bookmaker Sportsbook the former Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar, UCF 141 Odds opened at a +140 underdog when he faces off against Alistair Overeem. Alistair comes in as a slight favorite at -170.
In the co-main event, exciting lightweights Nate Diaz and Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone will face off.
Cerrone is fresh off a sweeping victory over top prospect Dennis Siver at this past weekend's UFC 137 event. After rocking the German on two occasions with head kicks, "Cowboy" cinched a rear-naked choke that brought the tapout at the midway point of round one. The victory, which earned him a $75,000 "Submission of the Night" bonus, was his sixth straight, all of which have come in the past 13 months.
Diaz, meanwhile, emerged from a two-fight skid in his most recent performance and picked up significant momentum with a first-round submission victory over Takanori Gomi at UFC 135. It was his first fight as a lightweight since he squared off with Gray Maynard at UFC Fight Night 23, after which he served a 2-2 stint as a welterweight.
The current UFC betting line has Donald Cerrone as the big favorite at -290, meaning you have to risk $290 to $100. Nate Diaz is the big underdog value at +210, meaning that for every $100 bet you will win $210.
