2006 NFC WILD CARD PLAYOFFS

Dallas Cowboys (9-7) @ Seattle Seahawks (9-7)
Saturday, January 6, 2007. 8:00 PM. ET on NBC

Dallas

The Cowboys backed there way into the playoffs and must step it up if they plan on advancing.  QB Tony Romo has been steady and the running game has been solid. They should be able to move the ball on a Seattle defense that has been sloppy the last few weeks just like the Dallas defense. Head Coach Bill Parcells is going to have to get his team fired up to play. Dallas has looked great one week and terrible the next all season long. Tony Romo and Terrell Owens will have to carry this team if they want to advance. I would expect the Seahawks to stack the line and make Romo beat them.

Seattle

The Seahawks have not played well of late due to injuries on the offense. QB Matt Hasselbeck and former MVP Sean Alexander went down and needed to look to the bench to save the season. If it wasn’t for a good start the Seahawks might have been watch in the playoffs this year.  The Seahawks are lucky to be in the playoffs and they know this. The Seahawks offense will be the key to victory. I would expect them to pound the ball inside with Sean Alexander to set up the play action pass down the field to their speedy WR’s.

Current Odds:  Seattle Seahawks -3 and the total is 46

Dallas Cowboys vs Seattle Seahawks Game Results
Seahawks 21, Cowboys 20

In a back-and-forth game, Seattle took advantage of two Dallas turnovers in the fourth quarter to win a thriller. Leading 20-13, the Cowboys looked to be in good shape when they stopped the Seahawks on fourth-and-goal, but a fumble on the next play led to a safety and then Seattle's go-ahead touchdown. Dallas drove inside the Seattle 2-yard line, but Tony Romo's botched hold on the potential go-ahead field goal helped Seattle escape. The final eight minutes overshadowed Miles Austin's go-ahead 93-yard kickoff return in the third quarter. Seattle plays next at Chicago on Sunday.

2006 NFC WILD CARD PLAYOFFS

N.Y. Giants (8-8) at Philadelphia Eagles (10-6)
Sunday, January 7, 2007. 4:30 PM. ET  on FOX

New York

The Giants backed into the playoffs this year and have really looked terrible since November, Head Coach Tom Coughlin is on the hot seat and his squad will be playing to save his job. Eli Manning has been hot and cold over the last month and will face a soft Eagles secondary and suspect run defense. I would expect the Giants to run the ball a lot in what could be RB Tiki Barbers last game.  Eli Manning has been too inconsistent lately to depend on him to win it. Head Coach Tom Coughlin will live or die with the ball in Tiki Barbers hands, Tiki plans on retiring after this season and would like to make a playoff run before he hangs it up. The Giants defense is beat up with injuries so they will need to score a bunch of points to advance.

Philadelphia

The Eagles have a balanced offense and an opportunistic defense that has been playing well as of late. QB Jeff Garcia has been playing well over the last 3 weeks and is looking like the QB that went to the pro bowl a couple times while he was in San Francisco.  He sure doesn’t look like the QB that was in Cleveland or Detroit. The Eagles will establish the run early take shots down the field all afternoon. Head Coach Andy Ried is one of the best in the business and will have his team prepared. The Eagles are a very dangerous team in the NFC and don’t be surprised if you see them in the Super bowl this year.

Current Odds: Philadelphia Eagles -7 and the total is 46

N.Y. Giants vs Philadelphia Eagles Game Results
Eagles 23, Giants 20

After splitting two thrilling games in the regular season, the Giants and Eagles kept up the excitement in the playoffs. This time, David Akers was the hero, kicking a 38-yard field goal with no time left to clinch it for Philadelphia. Brian Westbrook carried the offense for the Eagles, running for 141 yards and a touchdown, while Tiki Barber ran for 137 yards for the Giants in the final game of his career. Philly now travels to meet the New Orleans Saints on Saturday.
