The Sepang International Circuit was built and the first Malaysian Grand Prix was held in 1999. This 5,543 meter long track features 15 corners and 8 straights including two high-speed stretches. With a minimum width of 16 meters, the track allows ample opportunities for overtaking, ensuring a suspenseful and thrilling race. It takes 56 laps (totalling to 310.408 Km) to declare the winner. The track record is held by Juan Pablo Montoya who in 2004 clocked 1.34.223. Designed by Hermann Tilke, Sepang is one of the most technical circuits in Formula One Racing but one that the drivers most importantly seem to enjoy racing around. 2011 Malaysian Grand Prix Result
World Champion Sebastian Vettel made it two Malaysian Grand Prix wins from two after his 2010 success and made it two wins from two for the start of the 2011 Formula One season. The German was again in a different class to the rest as he comfortably dominated from pole position in what was an eventful race for the rest. Jenson Button managed a very respectable runner up spot, with Nick Heidfeld third, but Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso received penalties for clashing and dropped to eighth and sixth respectively.

The Red Bull team of Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber stamped their authority on this race right from the start and continued to lead throughout its duration. It was Webber who in fact was on ‘pole’, but Vettel proved how good he is by snatching the lead by the very first corner and staying thee to win the race, with Webber not far behind in second. In third place came Nico Rosberg, who once again secured a better result from his more illustrious team mate, Michael Schumacher who was forced to retired from the race.
Lewis Hamilton drove a terrific race to finish in sixth place after a poor qualifying left him at number 20 on the grid at the start. His team mate, Jenson Button managed eighth place.

Brawn GP's Jenson Button was grateful to have come out on top in a 'crazy' rain-shortened Malaysian Formula One Grand Prix, with just 32 laps completed and only half points awarded. Due to the severity of the conditions the race director was left with no choice but to red flag the race, with half points being awarded. Button was declared the winner, with Heidfeld an impressive second for BMW Sauber and Glock third. Trulli finished fourth in the other Toyota, ahead of Barrichello in fifth, Webber sixth, Hamilton seventh and Rosberg eighth.
