Bernabe Concepcion finally gets a chance to fight Juan Lopez. Juan Manuel Lopez 28-0 (25 KOs) defends his WBO featherweight title against upstart challenger Bernabe Concepcion 28-3-1 (15 KOs) from Rizal, Philippines, will be shown on ShowTime, on July 10, in Puerto Rico. Lopez enters this bout as a heavy favorite, though Concepcion is a good young fighter who just might have a few surprises up his sleeve.

Juan Manuel Lopez, is one of boxing’s premier up-and-comers. Lopez, is a young (26) southpaw puncher who appears to be improving. He won his first 3 world title bouts by first-round knockout and this past January Lopez moved up in weight and captured his belt with a dominant seventh round stoppage over brave but outgunned 37-1 WBO featherweight champion Steven Luevano.

Concepcion is coming off of a ten round decision over Mario Santiago at the Hilton Hotel in Las Vegas this past February. On that night Concepcion showed great poise and aggression but had to survive a late rally from his Puerto Rican foe before walking away with a unanimous decision by scores of 98-91, 97-92, and 96-93.

Lopez vs Concepcion Fight Results

Juan Manuel Lopez defended his WBO featherweight title by knocking out Bernabe Concepcion in the second round in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on Saturday.

Lopez dropped Concepcion early in Round 1, only to be knocked down later in the round.

With his idol, Felix Trinidad, looking on, Lopez hurt Concepcion in Round 2, knocking him down two more times. Referee Luis Pabon stopped the contest at 2 minutes, 37 seconds.

Lopez's second defense of his title will come against Rafael Marquez on Sept. 18 in Las Vegas.
