Texas (7-5, 6-6 ATS) returns to a bowl game this season after missing out last year, but we feel that the Longhorns have drawn a tough assignment on the CFB lines in taking on California (7-5, 7-5 ATS) in the Holiday Bowl from Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, CA on Wednesday, December 28th at 8:00 ET on ESPN & ESPN3.com.
California has an offense that is in high gear and a defense that can stop the run, and if Texas does not run the ball effectively, we feel that it will lose this game outright on the CFB lines as we simply do not trust the two-headed Longhorns’ quarterback combination of Case McCoy and David Ash in a bowl game. Holiday Bowl History
From 1978 through 1994, this game always featured the WAC champion against an at-large or Big Ten team. Since 1995, it has matched the WAC champion or a Pac-10 team against a Big 12 team. It's played in late December. Owned and operated by the city of San Diego, Qualcomm Stadium will blitz you with great football action! The Stadium was built in 1967 in response to the need for a big-league stadium for the San Diego Chargers of the NFL who were moving in from Los Angeles.
The San Diego State University Aztecs also compete here every year to capacity crowds. The Stadium has played host to two Super Bowls, two MLB All-Star games, and has hosted a couple of World Series games as well. The Holiday Bowl also takes place here on an annual basis. The stadium also has hosted several motocross races and monster truck rallies, too.
