Auto Racing and NASCAR Betting
NASCAR Betting
NASCAR is reaching all parts of the country and it is fast becoming one of the most popular sporting events to attend in person or watch on TV. A sport that was formerly exclusive to the Southeast has seen growth all over the country with new tracks being built in Las Vegas, Phoenix, Chicago and Los Angeles. Currently the series runs from February until November with only a few bye weeks during the season.

NASCAR is still just a small part of sports betting on the internet, but over the last couple of years sports betting on NASCAR has grown at a pace faster than betting on major sports like the NBA or the NFL. In the summer, when there is no football or basketball, sports like NASCAR, tennis, and golf become an important source of business to sportsbooks, so when the sports action slows down the sportsbook welcome all sports betting action they can get.
When betting on NASCAR used to be almost exclusively on who would win the overall event. However, betting on the "odds to win" has become a distant second to betting on which of two competitors will have the better "head-to-head" results. SportsBooks typically offer match-ups based on drivers (and their cars and teams, of course) of similar skill and will offer anywhere from a dozen to 50 match-ups on a race.
Motor Racing and NASCAR Betting General Rules
There are two main ways to bet on NASCAR and other motor racing events. Either on the out-right winner of the race or on the winner of a predetermined matchup.
Example: (Straight Bet): Jeff Gordon 1/1 or 100 to win 100
Dale Jarrett 2/1 or 100 to win 200
Mark Martin 2/1 or 100 to win 200
Mark Skinner 5/2 or 100 to win 250
Dale Ernhardt 7/5 or 100 to win 140
“Matchup Betting” offers an alternative to simply betting on a NASCAR race’s winner. Artificial head-to-head matchups are created by oddsmakers and involve drivers who are all competing against each other to win the race, with the bet specifically focused upon how one driver finishes compared to another driver in the matchup.

Ryan Newman wins Daytona 500
Ryan Newman Wins the 50th Running of Daytona 500, Giving Roger Penske Long-Awaited 500 Win.
Roger Penske picked up his elusive Daytona 500 victory, a $1 million bonus and a new challenge pairing the race he just conquered with the one that means the most to him.
The driver with the 81-race winless streak took NASCAR's biggest prize. He outran a pack that included Tony Stewart, Kurt Busch and Dale Earnhardt Jr., all of whom had thousands of supporters wearing their T-shirts and caps.
The 30-year-old Newman had 11 wins before Sunday, but there weren't many people wearing anything with No. 12 on it.
