Former welterweight title holders Joshua Clottey and Carlos Quintana both have their eyes on major fights, so they've agreed to go through each other to try to get there.
Joshua Clottey (35-3, 21 KOs) will battle Carlos Quintana on the Paul Williams card Dec. 5 at the historic Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J. The two former welterweight titlist will exchange leather in a HBO televised 10-round bout. This is a big fight for both men. A win elevates one into a fight against a top-tier welterweight. A loss will take the other out of the crowded welterweight field.
Clottey last fought in June 2009 and suffered a split decision loss to Miguel Cotto. As for Carlos Quintana 26-2(20), he has had three fights in almost two years, and will nonetheless fancy his chances against Clottey, 35-3(20).
