Capital One Bowl Picks

Florida Citrus Bowl
Tuesday Jan 1st, Orlando
Michigan Wolverines vs Florida Gators
Spread:  Florida -10.5
Over/Under Total:  59
By JR Valdez

I do not envy Michigan right now, would you heading into a New Year’s Day bowl and have to face Tim Tebow and the defending National Champion Gators?  Tebow has not only thrown for more than 3000 yards and 29 TD’s, but is also the team leading rusher with 838 yards on the ground and 22 TD’s!  This guy is amazing he would probably kick the field goals if they would let him.  Michigan is having a disappointing year when compared to their Rose Bowl appearance from last year and Chad Henne has not performed as expected.  It seems like Michigan has done just enough to win games to get where they are, nothing too spectacular although senior RB Mike Hart has stepped up and taken pressure off of Henne at times, but they just don’t get you excited while the Gators are they exact opposite and should win handedly especially being so close to home it will have a home field advantage feel for the Gators only adding to heartbreak in store for the Wolverines.  Give the points and take the over! Capital One Bowl

The College Bowl Game season is in full swing when the Capital One Bowl invades Orlando's Citrus Bowl on Jan. 1, 2008! What team will win the 2008 Capital One Bowl? Michigan vs. Florida

Florida Citrus Sports (FCSports) announced the 2008 Capital One Bowl will be played Monday, January 1 in Orlando. The 60th annual game will kick off at its traditional 1:00 p.m. (EST) time, and will be televised nationally by ABC. This will mark the first time since 1989 and only the fourth time ever the game will be played after January 2. In each of those years, January 1 has fallen on a Sunday, and most traditional New Year's Day bowl games have been pushed back to January 2.

The 2007 Capital One Bowl was a match between the Wisconsin Badgers and the Arkansas Razorbacks.

In the Capital One Bowl, the Wisconsin Badgers frustrated the Arkansas Razorbacks from the very beginning.

Arkansas' Darren McFadden broke free for a 45-yard gain on his first carry, but defensive back Jack Ikegwuonu managed to run him down at the 9. The Razorbacks came away with no points when Jeremy Davis missed a 30-yard field goal. Moreover, the Wisconsin Badgers had Bret Bielema as their head coach.

Capital One Bowl History

From 1947 until 198, the Capital One Bowl was known as the Tangerine Bowl, and then was known as the Florida Citrus Bowl from 1983-2002. Since 2003, when Capital One signed on as a sponsor, it has been known as the Capital One Bowl.

Various other names have been used in reference to the Capital One Bowl. The first Capital One Bowl game took place in 1947.
