For over half a century the Capital One Bowl has been a steadfast part of Florida 's history. Various other names have been used in reference to the Capital One Bowl. The first Capital One Bowl game took place in 1947. From 1947 until 198, the Capital One Bowl was known as the Tangerine Bowl, and then was known as the Florida Citrus Bowl from 1983-2002.
