Winky Wright Vs. Bernard Hopkins

The highly anticipated match-up between light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins (47-4-1, 32 KOs) and Winky Wright (51-3-1, 25 KOs) for Hopkins’ light heavyweight belt.

Bernard Hopkins is 42 years of age and nicknamed the Executioner. His career is very storied as he was the undisputed champion of the Middleweight division by holding all four belts from the WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO.

He successfully defended his title 20 times which is far more than any middleweight in history. In July of 2005 when he was 40 years old he finally lost his title in a controversial bout to Jermain Taylor. He hadn't lost since 1993 and lost a split decision even though Taylor missed most of his punches. He then lost the rematch in December of 2005 by unanimous decision despite landing almost double the power punches Taylor did.

But in June of 2006, at the age of 41, the Philadelphia native moved up in weight for the first time in his career and was brilliant dominating the top 175-pound fighter in the world, Antonio Tarver. Where he soundly defeating the reigning light heavyweight champ Antonio Tarver over 12 masterful rounds. His career record stands at 47 wins, 4 losses, 1 draw, and a no contest with 32 knockouts.

Southpaw Ronald Wright (49-3, 25 KOs) had been toiling his fistic trade at the junior middleweight limit where he owned nearly every belt there was to be had. A former IBF, WBC, WBA, WBO, NABF, and USBA champion at 154-pounds, he is as slippery a fighter as there is. Winky recently took two decision victories against quick-fisted “Sugar” Shane Mosley as Mosley found out just how difficult it is to catch Wright clean.

The fighters will conduct press conferences, interviews and photo opportunities as part of the excitement leading into this summer’s hottest event and if you want to bet on it, then take a look at our Wright Vs. Hopkins odds.
