Dover International Speedway are pleased to announce a new race name for the upcoming Oct. 2, 2011, with the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race "AAA 400". Featuring the best drivers in the world locked in fierce high stakes competition, the AAA 400 is the third contest in the NASCAR Chase for the Sprint Cup Series.

Bet NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Event

NASCAR betting is always exciting at the Dover International Speedway and that should be the case again on Sunday in the AAA 400. When AAA 400 comes around on the NASCAR schedule, some of the world's best drivers race around the Dover International Speedway at blazing speeds, leaving NASCAR betting fans in awe.

The Dover International Speedway, which carries the moniker "The Monster Mile" is different than most tracks on the NASCAR circuit. Being constructed of concrete rather than asphalt gives Dover a different feel. This track is a 1-mile oval with 24 degree banking in the turns and 9 degree banking on the straights. This particular track is a track where track position is very important like New Hampshire. There are a lot of short runs that makes it important for the drivers to maintain the top spots if they want to win. It is possible to drive from the back as it is with all tracks, but it's more favorable to be upfront and stay there.

In the 2006 Dover 400 Jeff Burton rolled to the finish line ahead of the pack, piling up points along the way. In 2007, Carl Edwards grabbed the flag. Last year's returning champion, Jimmie Johnson, is eager to prove himself once again on the asphalt this fall. Johnson is intent on making sure he is taken seriously as his record speaks for himself. Last year he began a string of six straight finishes of sixth or better to close his award-winning season, not to mention winning four events during that run, which placed him within eight points of a series title. Johnson became only the second driver to claim the checkered flag in three straight major NASCAR events.

After racing at Dover the Chase continues in the Price Chopper 400  at Kansas Speedway in October. Subsequent races will then take place at Auto Club, Lowe's Motor Speedway, MartinsvilleTalladegaTexas,  Phoenix,  and Homestead-Miami.

2011 AAA Dover 400 Results

2011 AAA Dover WinnerKurt Busch made things interesting in the Sprint Cup Series when he held off Jimmie Johnson and Carl Edwards to take the checkered flag at Dover International Speedway and slide into 5th place in the Chase standings only 9 points behind 1st place.

Kurt pulled away from Johnson on a late restart to win his second race of the season. Only 15 points separate the top eight drivers. The 400-mile race only tightened the leaderboard and no driver has emerged as clear-cut favorite.

Kevin Harvick and Carl Edwards sit at the top of the heap. Tony Stewart did not help his cause today with a 25 place in the race. He slips into 3rd place in the Chase standings.

2010 AAA Dover 400 Results

Jimmie Johnson went into the “Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup” hoping to use the first two races as a springboard towards a fifth consecutive title. The first one at New Hampshire didn’t go so well, but the second at one of his favorite tracks – Dover International Speedway – sure did.

Johnson claimed Sunday’s “AAA 400” at the Monster Mile, starting from the pole position to win for the sixth time at the one-mile concrete oval. Johnson won the race by 2.637 seconds over Jeff Burton, who advanced from a 27th place starting position to finish runner-up. Johnson is now second to only Richard Petty and Bobby Allison, who each won seven times in their careers at Dover.

2009 AAA 400 Results

Jimmie Johnson closed September in basically the same situation as he did last year, fresh off a victory and within 10 points of first place.

But plenty separated Sunday's triumph at Dover International Speedway from one year ago at Kansas Speedway, scheduling being one of them. Besides the race occurring one event earlier in the Chase for the Sprint Cup, Johnson created his own destiny in winning Sunday's AAA 400 rather than benefiting from someone's failed gamble, leading 271 of the 400 laps from the pole.
