2008 Accenture Match Play Results

Woods cruises to Match Play victory
Tiger Woods scorched the high desert Sunday, roaring like a wildfire across the Gallery Club at Dove Mountain with a phenomenal display of golf, incinerating Stewart Cink, winning the Accenture Match Play Championship and setting his sights on higher ground.
His 8-and-7 victory over Cink in the final, the largest margin in the history of the event, concluded an astonishing week of match play. Woods won six matches, twice escaped imminent elimination and made 47 birdies and 2 eagles in 117 holes. With his fourth consecutive PGA Tour win and sixth straight worldwide, he rekindled speculation that he could be embarking on a perfect season.
“Today was a lot of fun, actually,” said Woods, who began by birdieing four of the first seven holes to open a 3-up lead. “I made a bunch of birdies. I put a bunch of heat on Stew today and got off to a quick start and never really let him get back in the match.”
The victory added more numbing numbers to Woods’s staggering list of accomplishments:
It is his 63rd win on the PGA Tour, passing Arnold Palmer for fourth place and closing in on Ben Hogan’s total of 64.
It deposits $1.35 million to his worldwide earnings account, bringing his career on-course take to $96.3 million, $78.8 million of which was won on the PGA Tour. In this event alone, he has won $19.9 million, which would place him 17th on the career Tour money list.
