Bet 2011 US Open at gamblerspalace.com

June 16-19, 2011
at Congressional Country Club, Bethesda, Maryland

2011 PGA U.S OpenIn 2011 the Congressional Country Club in Maryland will host the major golf event. The site of some of the most memorable finishes of the U.S. Open, this beautiful golf course has long been a fan and draws the highest caliber golfers in the world. With a large purse and golf immortality on the line, every stroke matters in this storied event.

The U.S. Open is golf's second major of the season and a annual golf tournament of the United States. It is one of the four major championships in golf along with the British Open, Masters and PGA Championship. Arguably the most difficult golf tournament in the world, the U.S. Open demands near perfection from its pro participants. From rugged rough to boorish bunkers, it's a golfer's worst nightmare come true. This is one of the most popular tournaments in all of golf and a real fan favorite.

The U.S. Open is open to any professional, or to any amateur with an up-to-date USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 1.4. Players (male or female) may obtain a place by being fully exempt or by competing successfully in qualifying. The field is 156 players.

In 2009, the U.S. Open crowned a new champion in Lucas Glover. Not only did he become a first-time winner of a major, the tournament was the first time Glover had ever even finished in the Top Ten of one of golf's four majors. Overcoming Mother Nature and a run by several veterans of the PGA, Lucas Glover kept his composure to win the tournament.

Sixty-three golfers have already qualified for the Open and will be vying to wrest Glover's throne. This field includes nine past champions and other members of golf's elite. Among them are Angel Cabrera, Ernie Els, Jim Furyk, Geoff Ogilvy, Tom Watson and Tiger Woods.

Betting interest in golf increases when the Majors come round, Gamblers Palace.com offers US Open golf odds, golf odds on all PGA Tour and European Tour tournaments. These include the four major events - US Masters, US Open, British Open, and US PGA Championship - that attract golf fans and huge golf betting action around the world.

US Open Betting

The US Open is one of the most prestigious golf tournaments in the Sport and is one of the Grand Slam tournaments that also include the PGA Championship, The Masters and The Open Championship.

There has been a huge explosion in betting on golf over the last 20 years, largely thanks to the wall-to-wall TV coverage that both the US and European Tours are now given. Golf betting exploded when subscription television channels started broadcasting tournaments from around the world into the living rooms of golf sports fans. Suddenly it became much easier to track the form of golfers on the various international tours and golf enthusiasts also found that having a golf bet enhanced their enjoyment of the tournament greatly.

During the last ten years there has been a significant increase in the number of people in the US playing golf in their leisure time. As a growing number of new golf courses opening more people have become interested in playing golf, watching golf on television and golf betting.

As golf sports fans have increased both in the US and across the world, there has been an increase in the amount of money being placed on golf betting. Bets can be placed on a number of different golfing tournaments that take place throughout the year including the Masters, the US Open, the British Open and the PGA championship.

Strange as it may seem, in the mid-1980s betting on golf tournaments outside of the Majors and a few TV specials was virtually unheard of, but now millions of dollars are bet every week with online sportsbooks on PGA and European golf tournaments all over teh world.

US Open betting has always been popular and there has been massive growth in all golf betting in the past years, mainly due to the boom in televised golf. If you’re considering a US Open golf bet then you have come to the right place for US Open Golf Odds.

PGA US Open 2011 - Winner Rory Mcllroy

Rory Mcllroy - 2011 PGA US Open WinnerRory McIlroy, the young golf pro that many had annointed as the next superstar of the sport, won his first Major on Sunday at Congressional Country Club.

While other golfers were chasing McIlroy, the Northern Ireland star was chasing history.

He shot a 69 on the fourth round, with an eight-shot win.

The 22-year-old phenom went into the Final Round with an eight-stroke lead on Y.E. Chang. Jason Day eclipsed Chang in the end to come in second place.

McIlroy is the youngest U.S. Open champion since Bobby Jones in 1923.

US Open 2010 Results - Winner Graeme McDowell

Staggering to the final hole, battered, bruised and shaken by the Old Lady by the Sea, the leaders in Sunday's final round of the U.S. Open did all they could to just survive.

In the end, Northern Ireland's Graeme McDowell, feeling at home under the overcast skies and in the chilly wind, was the last man standing.

Outlasting the nastiest side of Pebble Beach Golf Links and all its devilish hazards — tiny, harsh greens, penalizing rough and thin fairways — McDowell closed with a 3-over-par 74 to finish as the only player to match par for the tournament. With a final-hole, two-putt par from 25 feet, McDowell held off Gregory Havret of France by one shot to win the 110th edition of the national championship.

In doing so he became the first European to win the U.S. Open since Tony Jacklin in 1970.

"It's so difficult to win a golf tournament, let alone a major championship," McDowell said. "I just can't believe how difficult this golf course is. ... Good golf got rewarded. Bad golf got punished, pretty badly."

The par-71 course played to an average of 74.88 strokes in the final round.
