Italian Grand Prix Betting 2012

F1 Italian Grand Prix Monza Betting

Dates: 7-9th September 2012

Location: Monza, Italy

Italian Grand Prix Betting OddsItalian Grand Prix Formula One held at Monza in September. The Italian Grand Prix track is located north of Milan in a former royal park and the fastest race on the Formula One calendar. The Monza circuit`s biggest event is the Formula One Italian Grand Prix, having hosted the event since the sport`s inception, stretching back to 1922, and has been home to the Italian Grand Prix since the very beginning of Formula 1 in 1950.

Monza race track is considered to be what Grand Prix racing is all about. It is one of the fastest racetracks in Formula One, which allows drivers to test their cars' speed limits on the long straights. Drivers can expect to spend over 80% of the track at full speed. However, there is more to the course than speed, as drivers also require maximum control, precision and tactical awareness to win a grand prix at Monza. Michael Schumacher is the most successful driver of all-time in the race, winning on 5 occasions, while it is no surprise that Ferrari are the top constructor, winning 18 of the Grand Prix.

The biggest challenge for drivers at Monza is picking a point to brake at over 360 kph. At that speed a car can travel a hundred metres in under a second, so braking one tenth of a second too late can have serious consequences. The track requires an incredible amount of precision, and the drivers also need a good 'feel' for the car as they spend a lot of time riding the kerbs.

Italian Grand Prix Betting

Betting on the Italian Grand Prix has been somewhat unpredictable in recent years, with Sebastian Vettel winning in the unheralded Toro Rosso in 2008 and Rubens Barrichello came from 5th on the grid to win in 2009. However, the Brazilian was the first driver since 2002 to win from off the front row, when he did it again! so qualifying usually plays an important role in the finishing positions.

The Formula One Betting odds is starting to heat up at this stage of the season and the F1 Monza could be a pivotal race in the season. Italian Grand Prix betting is considered quite difficult to predict due to the weather changes, this only adds to the opportunity of picking a big price winner at Bookmaker Sportsbook .

Monza Grand Prix Motor Racing History

The Monza circuit has long been recognised as the most dangerous Formula One racetrack, due mostly to the high speeds reached on the track and the absence of run off areas around some chicanes. The racetrack has been the scene of some of the worst accidents in grand prix history. The track screams through the forest in the Royal Park and runs fairly close to the trees that cannot be cut down because they are protected. The back straight and main straight are flanked by grandstands, but elsewhere the tall trees form a 'tunnel'.

Built in 1922 in only 100 days by the Automobile Club of Milan, Monza is Europe's oldest permanent circuit still in use. Originally comprising both a road course and a banked oval, sometime combined for major races up to the 1960's, only the road course is used today, though the impressive banking still exists, although there are now plans to demolish this historic structure.

During its time at Monza the Italian Grand Prix has been raced on a number of different courses at the venue, including the infamous high- speed oval track that was responsible for the demise of Wolfgang Von Tripps and 14 spectators in 1961.

After several more fatalities on the oval the decision was made to move the Italian Grand Prix back onto the regular racing circuit. In recent years the success of Ferrari at the Italian Grand Prix has overshadowed the tragic history of the race, and the Italian Grand Prix has developed into a celebration of Italian racing culture.

The Monza race track includes a banked oval section which makes for brilliant racing. There are 53 laps with a circuit length of 5.793km and a race distance of 306.720km. The list of famous victories and horrifying accidents is well documented, which combine to make Monza one of the most magical places on the Formula One calendar. Some would say there is nowhere that embodies the sport better than the Monza circuit. The Italians call it "La Pista Magica," the magic track. The track record is 1.21.046 which was recorded by Rubens Barrichello in 2004.
