The Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship, will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2015, and will begin on January 15th to the 18th at Abu Dhabi Golf Club.
The Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship was first played in 2006 and quickly became a popular event with the golfers, the corporations and the onlookers. The Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (ADTCA) invoked this Championship as a link building Abu Dhabi into an international destination with the cumulative viewership on television worldwide at 400 million people.
HSBC started a 5 year partnership in 2011 which included increasing the purse $500,000 to US $2,700,000, that attracts a world-class field of the game’s top international stars, including the likes of Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose, Phil Mickelson, and Henrik Stenson, as they try to take home the iconic Falcon Trophy.
Past champions include Chris DiMarco, Paul Casey, Martin Kaymer, Robert Rock, Jamie Donaldson and Pablo Larrazabal.
This desert oasis at Abu Dhabi Golf Club is tough to beat with their extravagant golf resort and 27-hole lush layout. The ornamental trees, bushes and wide array of Palm Tree Species are strategically and divinely spread over the undulating terrain offered.
The par-72 Championship Golf Course gives you 7,600 yards of lush green fairways and pivotally placed bunkers en route to generous and pristine greens. There are also seven stunning saltwater lakes to navigate over, around and even through sometimes. The design by Peter Harradine is difficult by some standards but fair for all. If you need a more forgiving round, the 3,299 yard, par-36 nine is there to satisfy any level golfer’s needs.

2014 Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship Recap
With a birdie at the home hole, Spain's Pablo Larrazabal edged a pair of the world's top-10 players by 1 shot to win the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship on Sunday.
The 103-ranked Larrazabal claimed his third career European Tour win with a final-round 67 to finish at 14-under par.
He held off fifth-ranked Phil Mickelson and seventh-ranked Rory McIlroy despite birdies from both on the 18th hole at Abu Dhabi Golf Club. An eagle by either would have forced a playoff.
2013 Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship Winner
Jamie Donaldson won the Abu Dhabi Championship by one shot Sunday, with Justin Rose narrowly missing a birdie putt on the 18th that would have forced a playoff.
Rose's 8-foot putt rimmed out of the hole, giving the Welshman his second European Tour victory. He shot a 68 to finish at 14-under 274.
Rose (71) threw his club up in the air in frustration while Donaldson flashed a relieved smile. Rose tied for second with Thorbjorn Olesen (69) of Denmark, who also failed to force a playoff on the 18th when his 15-foot birdie putt rolled past the hole. Olesen, playing with Rose, had putted first.
2012 Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship Results
Jamie Donaldson was up by 2 strokes at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship playing the par-5 eighteenth hole on Sunday and nearly let his victory get away by three-putting for bogey. Justin Rose and Thorbjorn Olesen were playing in the last group behind him, and both golfers missed putts under 15 feet to force a playoff, giving Donaldson his second European Tour win.
Rose started the final day 2 strokes ahead of Olesen and Donaldson, but his 71 was not enough to stay with the 68 shot by our winner for a 14 under par 272 total. Branden Grace had 10 birdies on the final day to get him within four shots of the winner, but closing his round with 4 consecutive birdies and five of the last 6 is something worth noting.
Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy sporting his new Nike gear both missed the cut which probably did not make the sponsors paying appearance fees too happy. Jamie Donaldson made $450,000 for winning this tournament, and Rory McIlroy was paid more than double that to appear while Tiger Woods pocketed $3,000,000 just to show up or a million and a half per round
