WBO light middleweight champion Sergiy Dzinziruk (36-0, 22 KOs) will make his sixth title defense on May 14th at the Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, California, against Sherzod Husanov (14-0-1, 7 KOs). Dzinziruk-Husanov is scheduled for 12 rounds and will be televised by SHOWTIME.

Dzinziruk will make his United States debut in this fight, he has been based in Germany for his entire professional career and fought exclusively in Europe.

Undefeated Dzinziruk, 33, who has recently signed a co-promotional deal with Gary Shaw Productions and Banner Promotions, last fought in November 2008, outpointing Columbian Joel Jair Julio (35-3, 31 KOs) on November 1st, 2008 and in December, 2005, he won the WBO title against formidable Daniel Santos. He was also an international amateur standout, Sergiy represented Ukraine in the 1996 Olympics and was the silver medalist at the 1997 World Championships.

Former Uzbek Olympian Sherzod Husanov, 29, debuted in 2007. He is best known for a win and a draw against Russian Timur Nergadze last year.

Husanov, 30 years old, is also making his U.S. debut and like Dzinziruk, is a former international amateur standout, as well he represented Uzbekistan in the 2000 and 2004 Olympics and was the silver medalist at the 2003 World Championships and the bronze medalist at the 2001 World Championships.

At the Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, California, Ukrainian-born southpaw and WBO junior middleweight (154 pounds) champion Sergiy Dzinziruk (36-0, 24 KOs) stopped Daniel Dawson (34-2, 24 KOs) in the tenth round. Dzinziruk dominated the action from start to finish, punishing Dawson in every round with stiff jabs and combinations. The ref had seen enough in the tenth round and finally stopped the beating.

A resident of Germany, Dzinziruk dominated the fight, forcing the referee to stop it at 2:12 of the round in the Showtime-televised bout.

The 34-year-old Dzinziruk, who trains in Los Angeles, rose to 37-0 with his 23rd knockout, as Dawson slipped to 34-2, with 24 KOs.
