Chad Dawson vs Glen Johnson Odds

Sign Up Click HereThe rematch between Chad Dawson and Glen Johnson will face off November 7, at the Hartford's XL Center.

World Championship boxing returns to Hartford for the first time in 20 years! The world title rematch pits Dawson, the light heavy weight division’s kingpin, defending his world championship belt against Johnson, the man who gave him the stiffest test and closest shave of his career. In their first battle, which took place in April 2008, the two squared off with Dawson’s WBC light heavyweight title on the line. Dawson came away with a hard-earned unanimous decision, but the entire boxing world was left clamoring for more from these world-class fighters.

Dawson (28-0, 17 KO) is coming off of back-to-back dominant wins over Antonio Tarver, while the 40-year old Johnson (49-12-2, 33 KO) has taken home two stay-busy wins over Aaron Norman and Daniel Judah since his controversial April 2008 loss to Dawson. There are many who feel Johnson won the fight, as he was the aggressor and appeared to do more damage.

Johnson (49-12-2, 33 KOs), from Miami, FL by way of Clarendon, Jamaica, is one of boxing’s most popular fighters. He captured the world light heavyweight title in 2004 winning a brilliant unanimous decision over future world champion Clinton Woods. His title reign included a knockout victory of Roy Jones, Jr. and 12-round decision over Tarver, which earned him the “Fighter of the Year” honor from the Boxing Writers Association of America. Johnson has won seven of his last nine bouts, five by knockout, with the only blemishes coming from close world title decisions to Dawson and Woods. He is currently world-rated in the Top-Five by all major sanctioning groups, including No. 2 by the WBC and No. 3 by the IBF. The Dawson rematch will be Johnson’s ninth world title fight.

The opening bout is a potentially explosive battle as rising star Alfredo Angulo of Coachella, CA, (16-1, 13 KOs) meets Harry Joe Yorgey of Bridgeport, PA (22-0, 10 KOs) in a 10-round junior middleweight encounter. Angulo has been climbing the 154 pounds ladder quickly and Yorgey is a crafty, all-action fighter who is seeking to put another speed bump in front of the power-hitting knockout artist.

Harry Joe is an exciting boxer to watch. He has speed, can punch, never backs down and has tremendous heart even having fought with a broken jaw. Harry, now 31 years old, knocked out previously undefeated prospect Ronald Hearns, the son of the legendary Thomas Hearns, who was 21-0 with 17 knockouts at the time. It was an exciting fight, both fighters were knocked down in the fourth round, but Harry rallied to score knockdowns in the fifth and ninth rounds and Hearns was counted out.

In Alfredo Angulo last fight on August 7, scored a third round TKO win in Primm, Nevada, against Gabriel Rosado of Philadelphia, who entered the ring with a record of 12-3 with 7 knockouts. Angulo, a 2004 Olympian for Mexico, overpowered Rosado in the third round, he scored three knockdowns and the fight was stopped without a count. Angulo has beaten the likes of Andrey Tsurkan, Cosme Rivera, Richard Gutierrez, and Danny “Zee” Stanislavjevic and now hopes to get a nod over the unbeaten Yorgey.

Chat Dawson VS Glen Johnson Results

Chad Dawson, fighting in his home state, won an unanimous decision Saturday over an older and slower Glen Johnson to remain undefeated and the No. 1 light heavyweight.

Dawson, 27, who vacated a major title belt to fight Johnson for a second time, outboxed his 40-year-old opponent, who was never able to get close enough to land the hard punches that made their first fight in April 2008 so tight.

Dawson, a southpaw, used his right jab to score, while keeping Johnson away. He won the early rounds with the strategy, following the jab occasionally with a hard left or a speedy combination.

Midway through the sixth round, Dawson caught Johnson with a left hand that snapped his head back, but that was perhaps the hardest punch he landed.
