The game will be sandwiched in between a pair of divisional games for the Patriots who will host Buffalo in Week 10, and then travel to the Meadowlands in Week 12 to battle Rex Ryan and the Jets on NBC’s Sunday Night Game of the Week. As for Indianapolis, it will have had 10 days to prepare for this game after opposing the AFC South rival Jacksonville Jaguars on the NFL Network’s Week 10 Thursday Night telecast. They’ll then return home to battle the Buffalo Bills in Week 12.

These two teams have been at the height of their powers, using each other as a measuring stick for what defines a truly great team. The rivalry is over four decades old, and dates back to 1970, when the Colts were in Baltimore. With the 2012 meeting, the two teams will have met at least once in 42 of the past 43 seasons (with 2002 being the only exception.)
