Talladega Superspeedway hosts the NASCAR Busch Series, NASCAR Nextel Cup Series, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, the Sprint Cup Series, and the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA). Talladega Superspeedway is the biggest, fastest, most competitive motorsports facility in the world. Records for both speed and competition have been established at Talladega. At 2.66 miles long, Talladega is the largest (and second most steeply banked) oval track in the Sprint Cup Series.

The superspeedway holds two NASCAR Nextel records: the most leaders an event and the most lead changes. The fastest 500 mile stock car race also took place at Talladega and for that resean, Restrictor plates will be used for the Good Sam Club 500, Aarons 499, the Daytona 500, and the Coke Zero 400 races. These plates serve to stop passing cars on the track.

After competing in the NASCAR Good Sam Club 500 the drivers of the Sprint Cup Series schedule will move on to Texas, Phoenix, and Homestead-Miami. 

2010 AMP Energy 500 Results

Clint Bowyer took top position in the AMP Energy Juice 500 at Talladega Superspeedway beating out Kevin Harvick, leading 19 of the race's 188 laps. Juan Pablo Montoya, David Reutimann and Joey Logano round out the top 5 in this field of 43.

With Harvick finishing ahead of Johnson (seventh) and Hamlin (ninth), the Chase has become the closest three-way battle in its seven-season history with three races left. Harvick cut 24 points off his deficit and trails by 38 points to Johnson, who added eight points to his lead on Hamlin.

2009 AMP 500 Results

Jamie McMurray won the AMP Energy 500 at Talladega Superspeedway, beating Kasey Kahne to the checkered flag. Joey Logano, Greg Biffle and Jeff Burton round out the top 5 in the running order. Jamie McMurray pushed the #26 Ford to an average speed of 157.213 mph and led 32 of the race's 191 laps, taking home $229,275. The race ran 3:13:54 and saw 58 lead changes. Due to 6 yellow flags, the race spent 23 laps under caution, including the last lap.
