Viking Classic Betting Odds This golf tournament was first established in 1968 as the Magnolia State Classic and Now is known as the Viking Classic. This years tournament is scheduled to start July 14-17 2011. The PGA Viking Classic is a very well recognized Golf tournament, held at the Annandale Golf Club in Madison, Mississippi. This course used to host the Southern Farm Bureau Classic, before becoming the Viking Classic in 2007. This PGA tournament has a purse of $3,700,000, with $648,000 going to the winner. The Jack Nicklaus-designed par 72 course consists of sloping fairways, elevated greens, 69 bunkers and water comes into play on 8 holes. As always, ball striking will be at a premium.

The $648,000 winner's purse is just one of many reasons attracting some of the best PGA players to the Viking Classic. The Viking Classic is crunch time for golfers who are struggling to hold on to their playing rights for next season’s PGA Tour as well as those who are looking to get into the top-50 of the world golf rankings. Players will also be battling to move into the top 30 on the final money list to ensure an automatic trip to next years US Masters and U.S. Open.

2011 Viking Classic Winner

Chris Kirk won the 2011 Viking Classic at Annandale Golf Club in Madison.

He finished the tournament at 22 under par with a one stroke lead. Kirk came into the 4th and final atop the leaderboard at 18 under after round three.

Kirk played his first PGA TOUR event at the Viking Classic in 2007, receiving a sponsor's exemption. He becomes just the 5th rookie to win on the PGA Tour this season.

With his first ever victory, he receives a purse of $648,000 and his choice of an indoor or outdoor Viking kitchen. And being that the Viking Classic became a part of the PGA regular season this year, he also earned 250 FedEX Cup Points.
