Event: UFC 99 The Comeback

Date: June 13, 2009

Venue: Lanxess Arena in Cologne, Germany

Broadcast: Pay-Per-View via Tape Delay

The UFC will hold its first event ever, in Germany on June 13 at the Lanxess Arena in Cologne, the biggest indoor venue in the country with a maximum capacity of 20,000 seats. The main event of Rich Franklin vs Wanderlei Silva.

Franklin, who suffered a close split-decision loss to Dan Henderson in January, will now meet Wanderlei Silva this June in Germany. The bout will take place at a catch-weight of 195 pounds (Franklin recently moved up to 205 pounds and Silva planned to drop to 185 pounds). Like the other Silva, Anderson Silva is a noted striker. He's also one of only two guys who ever knocked out Franklin, so he's sure to pick up a few tricks.

Undefeated heavyweight prospect Cain Velasquez (5-0) Vs. mixed martial arts veteran Heath Herring (28-14).

The list of superstars Herring has faced is impressive: Fedor Emelianenko, Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic, Vitor Belfort, Igor Vovchanchyn, Enson Inoue, Mark Kerr, Evan Tanner, and Gary Goodridge.

Herrings recent matches include Brock Lesnar, Cheick Kongo, and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.

Velasquez most recently beat Denis Stojnic at UFC Fight Night 17 for a round and a half en route to a second round technical knockout victory. It marked just the first time that a Velasquez opponent has made it out of the opening round. Velasquez now holds wins inside the Octagon against Stojnic, Jake O’Brien and Brad Morris.

American Marcus Davis, who is steadily building a fan presence in Ireland, is in one of the most anticipated bouts of the night. He will face British fighter Dan Hardy, who is on a five-fight winning streak including back-to-back wins in the Octagon.

Born in Russia, but now fighting out of Germany, Dennis Siver makes his sixth start for the promotion. He faces Dale Hartt, who is 1-1 thus far fighting for the UFC.
