Morales Vs Maidana Lightweight Fight Odds

Erik Morales vs. Marcos Maidana Betting Odds
Former three-division champion Erik “El Terrible” Morales (51-6, 35KOs), on the comeback trail after a two and half year retirement, will face junior welterweight slugger Marcos “El Chino” Maidana (29-2, 27KOs) on April 9th, at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The WBA interim super lightweight title will be on the line and both fighters are required to make the weight of 140 pounds for the boxing event. The Maidana-Morales bout comes a month before Pacquiao’s bout against the shot-looking 39-year-old Shane Mosley, which will be taking place on May 7th at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The pay-per-view will also feature a solid undercard with former junior middleweight champ Ronald “Winky” Wright vs. Matthew Macklin and a lightweight match between former champs Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero vs. Michael Katsidis.
Erik Morales vs. Marcos Maidana
The thirty-four year old Erik Morales, is in his quest for that coveted fourth titles in as many divisions to become the first Mexican-born fighter to achieve the feat.
Morales, well past his prime, lost four fights in a row before his retirement and has not looked like he has had much left in his recent fights. After more than a two year hiatus, Morales of Tijuana, MX, made a comeback early last year and has gone 3-0, 1KO. In his last outing last December, Morales struggled at times to defeat late sub Francisco Lorenzo via unanimous decision in his hometown. Now Morales, faces an opponent that is seven years younger, likely much hungrier and most definitely stronger.
Argentina's Marcos Maidana, 27, is a brute slugger and one of the top 140-pounders in the world. Maidana, who exploded onto the boxing scene earning 25 knockouts, is now considered one of the top light welterweights in the world. Maidana, is best known for his win over Victor Ortiz and his 2010 “Fight of the Year” with WBA 140-pound champion Amir Khan, a fight Maidana lost by decision. Almost 90 percent of Maidana’s fights ended in a knockout and this fight will be no different.
Only the fighters that are able to keep Maidana at bay have hopes of surviving this unrelenting granite-chinned powerhouse. Even Amir Khan, easily a pro at keeping fighters away from himself, was tagged by Maidana and felt the power as his legs became weak and knees buckled.
Winky Wright vs. Matthew Macklin
European middleweight champion Matthew Macklin (28-2, 19 KOs) will take on Former middleweight champion Ronald “Winky Wright (51-5-1, 25 KOs) on the undercard of Marquez vs Morales.
Macklin, 28, will travel to the US for his third fight on American soil after two successful trips in 2005, when he scored stoppage victories in Atlantic City and Philadelphia against relatively unknown opponents Anthony Little and Leo Laudat. He hasn't lost since September 2006 when he was stopped by Jamie Moore in the 10th round of a junior middleweight bout. Macklin won the vacant European middleweight title by stopping Shalva Jomardashvili in the sixth round in September and defended it in December.
Wright, 39, of St. Petersburg, Fla., made his name in 2004 when he twice defeated Shane Mosley to become the undisputed 154-pound champion. A staple of the pound-for-pound list, Wright moved up to middleweight and defeated Felix Trinidad in 2005.
In June 2006, Wright fought to a disputed draw with then undisputed middleweight champ Jermain Taylor. But Wright has been chronically inactive. He has not won a fight since December 2006, when he easily outpointed former welterweight titlist Ike Quartey.
In July 2007, Wright moved up to light heavyweight and lost a decision to then-champion Bernard Hopkins at a catch weight of 170 pounds.
After a long layoff, Wright returned in April 2009 and lost a lopsided decision to Paul Williams in a middleweight fight and has not boxed since.
