All-Star Game History
All-Star Game is an annual exhibition match between the best players from the American League and the National League, the two smaller leagues constituting the MLB. Also known as the "Midsummer Classic", The All-Star Game starts with a man named Arch Ward, a sportswriter who invented the game as a one-time event for the 1933 World's Fair. Due to the success of the first game, it has been played annually ever since. The game is played in July and marks what is roughly the halfway mark in the MLB season. It is played on the only two days during the season when no major sports events in America play. The MLB All-Star Game provides baseball betting fans with the unique experience of watching their favorite stars from different teams play together.
Nowadays, the sports betting fans and manager-selected players of the National and American Leagues play in a mid-season exhibition game and the results determine which league's team gets home-field advantage in the World Series that year.
Do not miss out on all the baseball betting excitement as the game's biggest names compete and add another chapter to baseball's rich legacy. Bet the 2011 MLB All-Star Game, at Bookmaker Sportsbook.

McCann's double gives NL first All-Star Game win since 1996
Well, since perfect games and no-hitters have become almost expected this year, the All-Star Game managed to produce an oddity that really defied the imagination.
The National League actually won an All-Star Game, 3-1 at Angel Stadium, its first victory since 1996. It ends the longest winless drought in All-Star history, giving the NL home-field advantage in the World Series.
"That's all we've been hearing since we got here," said winning pitcher Matt Capps, the first Washington pitcher to win an All-Star Game since Emil "Dutch" Leonard in 1943. "We don't have to hear that anymore."
Atlanta Braves catcher Brian McCann made it possible with a two-out, three-run double off Chicago White Sox reliever Matt Thornton, a potentially meaningful hit for the first-place Braves.

AL beats NL again
Carl Crawford, the hero Tuesday night, knows this can't possibly last forever, but the way these All-Star Games are going, it may take a few more presidential administration changes before the National League ever wins. The American League, with President Obama even showing his support by wearing a White Sox jacket, once again won the All-Star Game, 4-3, Tuesday night at Busch Stadium. They extended their unbeaten streak to a record 13 consecutive games, undefeated since Bill Clinton was president in 1996.

AL Beats NL 4-3 in Baseball's Longest All-Star Game
Michael Young of the Texas Rangers hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 15th inning to end the longest All-Star Game in Major League Baseball history, a 4-3 American League victory that extended its unbeaten streak over the National League to 12 years.
It was the second time in three years that Young drove in the winning run in the All-Star Game.
The game at Yankee Stadium ended at just after 1:30 a.m. New York time as Minnesota's Justin Morneau scored the winning run from third base, sliding home ahead of the throw from NL right fielder Corey Hart of the Milwaukee Brewers.

Morneau tops Hamilton to win HR Derby
Josh Hamilton was the story. Justin Morneau was the champ. Everyone watching was a winner.
Hamilton's unbelievable 28-homer first-round outburst was the highest first-round total of all-time, and it will be the lasting memory of the 2008 Home Run Derby, as the Rangers star showed off his amazing power, belting 500-foot home runs and showing why he is the best story in baseball this season.
Maybe the fan-favorite didn't pull through in the end, but former AL MVP Justin Morneau is a worthy champion, and stayed consistent to win his first derby, as the Yankee Stadium All-Star sendoff began with a bang.
Morneau topped a tired Hamilton 5-3 in the last round, giving him the title. But the night belonged to Hamilton, a first-time All-Star who put on a dazzling power display worthy of The House That Ruth Built.
"The whole stadium, the way people responded, higher and higher — you can't beat it," Hamilton said. "Them chanting my name and getting louder, it makes you more focused."
