Armed Forces Bowl- Fort Worth Bowl - Event Information & History

The first Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl was in 2003 and featured a 34-31 Boise State victory over TCU. While the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl aims to have teams from the Big 12 and Conference USA that is not always possible. In 2003 and 2004, the Big 12 did not have enough Bowl-eligible teams to fill their allowed College Bowl Game spots, so replacement schools had to be found.

In 2003, at the first Fort Worth Bowl, the Boise State Broncos took the prize against Texas Christian University (TCU). Ryan Dinwiddie, the Boise quarterback, was the MVP of the game. In 2004 the Cincinnati Bearcats won out right over the Thundering Herd of Marshall University (West Virginia), with Gino Guidugli, quarterback, taking Marshall to victory with his unstoppable arm.
