The World Golf Championships - The event became known as the Cadillac Championship beginning in 2011 when the auto brand replaced CA as title sponsor. The Cadillac Championship is a limited-field event with entry determined mostly by money list ranking, but also by FedEx Cup points and World Ranking points. The WGC Cadillac Championship is planned to start on March 10-13 at Doral Golf Resort & Spa and will feature top players from around the world. More WGC Cadillac Championship

2011 WGC Cadillac Championship Results

2011 WCG Cadillac Championship WinnerThe way Nick Watney is playing golf these days, his caddie, Chad Reynolds, is going to have a ponytail before long.

Watney knocked in a 25-foot putt for par on the 16th hole and a 12-foot birdie putt on the demanding final hole to hold off a crowded leaderboard Sunday to win the World Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship at TPC Blue Monster. In earning his third PGA Tour title, Watney held off Dustin Johnson by two shots on a day when eight players were within two shots of the lead at one time or another. And per their agreement, Reynolds now must go at least another week without a haircut.

Watney closed with a 5-under-par 67 to finish at 16-under 272. Johnson, the overnight leader by two, finished with a 71. Anders Hansen (67) and Francesco Molinari (69) were three back in a tie for third.

2010 CA Championship Results

Ernie Els has ended the longest drought of his career by winning the CA Championship in Doral, Fla., in a duel with South African protege Charl Schwartzel.

Two years without a victory the longest drought of his career and playing with all the pressure against a South African protege whom he helped groom for such a stage, Els played the final 23 holes without a bogey on the Blue Monster and closed with a 6-under 66 for a four-shot victory over Charl Schwartzel.

Mickelson wins CA Chanpionship

Once he got onto the Blue Monster, Mickelson looked better than ever.

Weakened and dehydrated by a stomach virus that sent him to the hospital on the eve of the final round, Mickelson closed with seven straight pars for a 3-under 69 to win the CA Championship after a dynamic duel at Doral against Nick Watney.

"It took a lot out of me," said Mickelson, who sipped on energy drinks throughout the round. "I haven't eaten much in three days. I fought hard. I've been playing some of my best golf, and I'm very excited to have finished it off."

No longer the best player without a World Golf Championship, Mickelson now can set his sights on No. 1 in the world.

His second victory in his last three starts moved him to No. 2 in the FedExCup standings and to No. 2 in the world, closer than he has ever been to Tiger Woods. Depending on how Woods fares at Bay Hill, Mickelson could have a chance to replace him when he next plays at the Shell Houston Open. He's also only 51 points behind FedExCup leader Geoff Ogilvy.

"He's the greatest player of all time. I don't want to go there with the world ranking," Mickelson said. "What I'm excited about is I'm playing some of my best golf."

He finished at 19-under 269 and earned $1.4 million, the biggest check of his career.

This one-shot victory might have been as impressive as any.

Geoff Ogilvy Ogilvy wins CA Championship

With a trusty wedge and a steady hand, Ogilvy closed out the weather-suspended final round of the CA Championship with nine straight pars Monday morning to score a wire-to-wire victory.

He didn't just end Woods' run of seven consecutive worldwide victories and five straight PGA Tour wins. He held off three other major-championship winners closing in on him.

With a final-round one-under-par 71, Ogilvy claimed the $1.35-million first-place check and the Gene Sarazen Trophy. His 17-under 271 total was a shot better than three-time major-championship winner Vijay Singh (68), two-time U.S. Open winner Retief Goosen (68) and U.S. Open winner Jim Furyk (68).

"With most people giving the tournament to one guy, it's very, very satisfying," Ogilvy told fans at the trophy presentation.

That guy would be Woods, who lost for the first time since September, when Phil Mickelson beat him head to head at the Deutsche Bank Championship outside Boston.

"We are glad, yes," Goosen said of the streak's end.

209 Brett Wetterich 72 70 67

210 Nick O'Hern (Aus) 72 72 66

Tiger Woods has had plenty of success at the Doral Golf Resort & Spa's Blue Course. In 20 rounds there, he is 74 under, going 31 under on the front nine and 43 under on the back nine. His lowest 18-hole score was a 63 in the third round of the 2005 Ford Championship, and his highest was his 73 today.

Tiger Woods fired a 1-over 73 on Sunday to win the World Golf Championships-CA Championship by two strokes. The last time he fired an over-par score and went on to win was at the 2005 WGC-NEC Invitational, when he recorded a 1-over 71 at Firestone Country Club-South Course.
